Under our management, the Directed Care Behavior Unit at Maryland Gardens became a licensed assisted living program specifically designed to manage the long–term and short–term placement needs of persons with dementia who exhibit challenging behavorial problems. This is Arizona’s first behavioral program in a wandering dementia assisted living setting. All admissions to the non-dementia and dementia behavioral units are triaged with the clinical director, a behavioral psychologist. All referrals are assessed on site and if approved, will be placed in the most appropriate facility/unit.
